If you’ve ever thought “I could spend all day talking & thinking about martech and ecomm”, then this role is for you! Job posts are long. Here are three quick questions to help you navigate this one:

  • Do you have extensive hands-on experience with lots of martech and/or ecomm technologies?
  • Do you love talking shop with other martech and ecomm professionals?
  • Would you like to apply the above at a venture-backed startup led by experienced founders (previously of CB Insights)?

If you answered yes to all three, please read on! Alium is seeking an experienced martech/ecommerce professional to conduct research interviews with fellow peers and leaders at the world’s leading brands. Topics will span ecomm, martech and adtech solutions ranging from headless e-comm to personalization to order management to reporting & analytics (and everything in between).

The goal of each interview is to get interviewees’ impressions of the technologies they’re using, as well as to understand their needs in the future. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who has spent much of their career in an ecommerce or digital marketing role and loves the space. But who is seeking a new way to put those skills to work in an adjacent capacity that is core to a growing startup.

Qualifications

  • Ideally, 6+ years experience as an ecomm or marketing professional
  • Extensive experience evaluating, buying, working within and/or selling ecomm and marketing software
  • Basic understanding of the technical/developmental side of ecomm / martech

  • Take detailed notes during interviews to assist in the creation of interview summaries
  • Support consumers of our research as well as our internal team as they may require clarifications regarding the interviews you conducted
  • Provide feedback on interview processes (and beyond) that will improve our products
  • Create shareable content establishing Alium - and you - as experts in the space with a keen eye on industry trends & developments
  • Manage your interview schedules / pipeline

About Alium's ProductsAlium is on a mission to fix enterprise software purchasing. Yes, we have big plans! Our first product provides buyer intelligence that helps marketing technology vendors drive more revenue.

This year we also launched a buyer-facing product that helps marketers discover, evaluate and select the best vendors for their needs. If we do our jobs well, Alium will one day become the go-to destination for all buyers and sellers of enterprise software. Finally - and since you’re already thinking it(!) - a note regarding AI: while our core buyer intel is human-driven (hence this role), we use plenty of AI in both customer and internal-facing capacities that will help us scale.

About Alium's TeamAlium was founded by CB Insights alums. Jon(athan) Sherry co-founded CB Insights and was their COO for 11 years. Alex(andre) Testu was employee #4 at CB Insights and played instrumental roles in establishing and scaling the company’s product and engineering orgs. Both oversaw growth from a few people in a dimly lit shoebox to what it is today: a $100m+ market intelligence platform.Alium is backed by Greycroft and Primary VC.

Why shouldn't you apply for this position? Joining Alium comes with many benefits, including the excitement of building something from the ground up with frontline access to founders and a choose-your-own-adventure career path. But there are reasons this might not be the right gig as well. For example, if you crave established infrastructure, formal training programs, clearly mapped career progression paths, products that won’t change a whole lot, or a formal office to report to every day, etc. then this isn’t the right position for you.

Thank you for reading. We can’t wait to meet you!
