About Etched
Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) only supports transformers, but has an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep & parallel chain-of-thought reasoning agents.
Key responsibilities
Drive collaboration across internal teams, including platform solutions, ASIC silicon design, and software organizations, to deliver AI datacenter hardware projects.
Partner with external vendors to ensure design components are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
Identify risks proactively and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and quality.
Optimize engineering and operational efficiency by continuously refining program management processes.
Foster a culture of accountability and transparency by regularly communicating with executive and engineering leaders on project status, risks, and opportunities.
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress, success, and strategic alignment.
Leverage technical understanding of hardware, ASIC, and software integration to facilitate cross-disciplinary communication and resolution of technical issues.
Operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and emerging challenges.
Representative projects
Lead complex, multi-disciplinary hardware and software integration projects from initiation to completion.
Plan and document project requirements, define milestones, and create detailed schedules.
Identify and manage critical paths to maintain momentum and anticipate potential bottlenecks.
Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on objectives, deliverables, and interdependencies.
Monitor and manage external vendor deliverables to ensure compliance with project timelines and quality benchmarks.
Develop and execute contingency plans to address deviations in timeline, scope, or resources.
You may be a good fit if you have
10+ years of experience in technical program management, ideally in hardware, semiconductor, or AI technology environments.
A PMP certification with a demonstrated track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects.
Strong technical knowledge in ASIC design, hardware platforms, and software integration.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills that influence without authority.
A proactive approach to identifying risks and opportunities for process improvement.
Experience using program management tools and methodologies such as Google Workspace and JIRA.
Strong candidates may also have experience with
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (advanced degree preferred).
Managing and nurturing external vendor and supplier relationships.
Implementing best practices in program delivery to drive operational performance improvements.
Benefits
Full medical, dental, and vision packages, with 100% of premium covered
Housing subsidy of $2,000/month for those living within walking distance of the office
Daily lunch and dinner in our office
Relocation support for those moving to West San Jose
How we’re different
Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.
We are a fully in-person team in West San Jose, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
