Exploration Geologist
About the Company
Our mission is to discover the raw materials needed to create a prosperous world for the next 1000 years. With modern software and hardware, we aim to reduce mineral discovery timelines from 10 years to 1 year. Founded in 2023 by lifelong geoscientists, ExploreTech is a venture-backed business that develops technology and uses it to explore for minerals all over the world.
About the Role
We’re accelerating the pace of mineral discovery. Our drill targeting software has gone 8 for 8 hitting mineralized targets, a significant improvement over industry standards. We are now scaling up our own exploration programs around the world. In this role, you’ll be the geologist on the ground who tests our targets, finds new ones, and makes the discoveries.
This is not a desk job – you’ll work in rugged and remote parts of the world, from desert ranges to alpine terrain. You’ll use our software and computational tools in the field to speed up exploration and characterization, combining classical field geology with real-time data to make faster, smarter decisions about where to drill next. What you learn in the field feeds directly back into our models, and you’ll share what we learn with customers. The best part - you’ll join a world-class team of scientists, engineers, and explorers that live and breathe this work every day.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and lead field campaigns: mapping, sampling, and geophysical surveys
- Use our software and computational tools in the field to evaluate targets, characterize mineralization, and make drilling decisions in real time
- Log drill core and supervise drilling programs
- Build and interpret 3D geological models
- Work with engineers and scientists to turn field insight into better software and models
- Test our mobile and field tools and give direct UI/UX feedback
- Manage contractors, permitting, and field logistics
- Present field results to customers and support customer exploration projects
About You
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in geology, economic geology, or a related field
- 5+ years of mineral exploration experience, including 2+ years on a discovery or project that advanced to drilling
- Strong command of structural geology, ore deposit models, and geochemistry
- Experience with 3D modeling and GIS tools (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS/QGIS), and comfortable working with data in Python (or eager to learn)
- Hands-on in the field: you’re comfortable running a crew in remote conditions
- Able to travel to remote parts of the US and world for extended periods
