We are doing things such as automating the import of messy loss runs to supplementing our Underwriters with customer, internally-developed pricing models to make their work efficient. In addition to cutting edge underwriting techniques and tools, Kinetic has developed proprietary loss control technology that uses AI to guide loss control services/technologies. Joining Kinetic will be a role in which you are on the forefront of innovation in Workers' Comp and participating in ideation and execution of new strategies for underwriting.

The Role

This is an exciting role to join Kinetic’s underwriting team and own a territory expansion. You will own building relationships that grow into submission volumes and premiums in your designated territory, and explaining Kinetic’s value proposition to our brokers in order to win accounts. This role will help drive innovation in Workers’ Comp by developing new Underwriting products, processes, and approaches to help us lower losses for accounts. You will be a key person helping us expand to brokers and class codes that can benefit from these offerings.

Kinetic has an incredibly unique product that we are excited to offer to our brokers as a way to set their accounts up for injury reduction, premium savings, and happier employees over time. You will be the beacon of this message in your interaction with our brokers. You should have a strong background in positioning a value-based product in Workers’ Compensation and not be afraid that we are competing against lower price options. You should be excited to engage with brokers and get the deal done in a way that prices the risk for profitability, and brings a can-do attitude to the team.

What you'll do:

  • Grow broker relationships in your appointed agency base through both in-person and over-the-phone meetings
  • Price policies and evaluate risks for new and renewal submissions of our mid-market, monoline Workers’ Comp product
  • Be the main source of communication with your assigned broker partners on submissions, talking through decisions on pricing, declines, renewals, etc.
  • Traveling to brokers as needed while managing your submission flow
  • Contribute new and innovative ways to price risk in the class codes that Kinetic wants to grow in around the US
  • As needed, provide training and support to junior underwriters on our team
  • Own the growth of submissions and premium, while maintaining a profitable loss ratio, in your designated territory

What you've done:

  • At least 5 years of underwriting experience in mid-market Workers’ Comp insurance, with strong technical knowledge of Workers’ Compensation rating and classification
  • You have explicitly owned a territory as a field or production underwriter and have a track record of building premium in a profitable manner
  • Experience managing an entire book of business including renewals, endorsement requests, policy changes, ex-mod changes, audit inquiries, class code changes and Rating Bureaus CRITS
  • Tie loss control services into pricing and account servicing
