Lyric
About the Company
Why We Built Lyric: Supply chains are more critical and complex than ever. Every day, large enterprises navigate trillions of possible decisions that could impact the bottom line. Powerful algorithms and AI can address these problems, yet most organizations struggle to leverage supply chain AI at scale. The current SCM technologies are either rigid, limited-scope point solutions or custom solutions built in-house, which demand immense expertise and investment.
That is…until now.
Enter Lyric: Lyric is an enterprise AI platform built specifically for supply chains, offering the best of both worlds:
Out-of-the-box AI solutions for optimizing networks, allocating inventory, scheduling routes, planning fulfillment capacity, promising orders, propagating demand, building predictions, analyzing scenarios, and more, plus
A platform-first approach that empowers both business and technical users with end-to-end product composability, leveraging no-code tools, their own code, or even forking our code to build and refine supply chain decision intelligence
With Lyric, enterprises no longer have to choose between flexibility and speed—they get both.
The Mission: We’re building a new era in supply chain with the team best equipped to lead it. With over 20 years at the intersection of supply chain and algorithms, we developed a deep conviction that global supply chains needed something like Lyric. Since our inception in December 2021, that conviction has been validated time and time again.
Today, a growing number of Fortune 500 companies, including Smurfit WestRock, Estée Lauder, Coca-Cola, Nike, and more, are innovating on their own terms with Lyric. We can’t wait to see what our customers, both current and future, are empowered to build with us next. Come build with us!
At Lyric, our mission is to empower supply chain teams with intelligence and automation. A critical part of this vision is our Notes Execution Platform, which enables users to author, run, and share external and internal code securely and seamlessly within Lyric’s environment.
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of this platform — building a secure, scalable, and developer-friendly execution engine that integrates deeply with Lyric’s data and ML workflows.
You will design APIs and services to orchestrate code execution, manage resources, isolate environments, and provide observability into execution lifecycles. You’ll also tackle hard engineering problems around sandboxing, dependency management, concurrency, and horizontal scalability.
This is a high-impact, foundational role at the intersection of developer productivity, data engineering, and platform infrastructure.
Design, build, and scale the Notes Execution Platform at Lyric — enabling seamless execution of internal and external code in a secure, isolated, and observable way.
Architect sandboxed environments to run untrusted or user-supplied code with appropriate resource quotas and security controls.
Develop backend services and APIs to manage job lifecycles: scheduling, monitoring, cancellation, logging, and reporting.
Ensure the system is resilient and scales horizontally to meet growing demand.
Integrate the Notes platform with Lyric’s data platform and ML workflows, making it a first-class citizen in our ecosystem.
Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to understand use cases and deliver intuitive developer experiences.
Drive technical excellence: establish best practices in code execution safety, performance tuning, and observability.
5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally building distributed systems or platform infrastructure.
Deep expertise in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or similar) and experience designing RESTful and/or gRPC APIs.
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and building isolated execution environments.
Strong understanding of secure code execution, sandboxing, and resource quota enforcement.
Familiarity with distributed job queues and task orchestration systems (e.g., Celery, Airflow, Kubernetes Jobs, or similar).
Proven ability to build systems that are performant, resilient, and observable at scale.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working across teams.
Experience building notebook-like platforms (e.g., JupyterHub, Databricks, or similar).
Exposure to data and ML platforms, and an understanding of their unique execution needs.
Experience with multi-tenant systems and securing shared infrastructure.
