Noom is on a mission to help people live better, longer. We’re a consumer-led digital health company, connecting people to content, coaching, community, and clinicians, to build lasting habits and live healthier lives. We’re a high-growth organization powered by science, technology, and world-class talent. When you join Noom, on any team, you’ll see the impact of your work on the world.

Our Engineering Team

Engineering at Noom is at the heart of building scalable, secure, and reliable systems that power millions of health journeys. Our teams work at the intersection of healthcare, commerce, and behavioral science—designing platforms that make complex clinical and medication experiences feel seamless for users. As we expand Noom Med, our engineering organization is focused on building extensible, high-performance backend systems that enable long-term business growth and unlock new care experiences for our members.

About the Role

As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help scale the Noom Med platform to support multi-medication management and long-term business expansion through 2026 and beyond. In this role, you will help redesign and re-architect our backend systems—evolving them from a single-medication model into a flexible, ecommerce-like, fulfillment-focused platform that supports the full post-purchase lifecycle.

You’ll join a lean, high-impact team and play a critical role in building the next generation of our medication platform. Depending on timing, you may contribute to the MVP of the first version or help lead development of the second iteration of the platform.

You Will

  • Redesign and re-architect the Noom Med backend to support multiple concurrent medications per user
  • Build scalable systems that support provider visits, prescription management, and pharmacy fulfillment
  • Develop backend services optimized for a multi-product, ecommerce-like post-purchase lifecycle
  • Expand platform capabilities to allow users to manage and track multiple medications simultaneously
  • Contribute heavily to hands-on coding (approximately 70%), with additional ownership in architecture (15%) and code review (15%)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Growth (purchase flow) and Med Expansion teams to ensure seamless integration across systems
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate development velocity and improve engineering efficiency
  • Ensure systems are reliable, secure, and extensible as the platform scales

About You

If you’re interested in shaping the future of health by building scalable backend systems that power medication access and management at-scale, this role may be for you!

You Have

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong backend focus
  • Deep experience in Java and/or Kotlin
  • Strong experience designing and working with relational databases
  • Experience architecting and scaling backend systems in production environments
  • A product-minded approach to engineering, with the ability to translate business objectives into technical solutions
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with high ownership
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance development workflows and efficiency
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and cross-functional teams

What Makes This Job Amazing

  • You’ll help architect the next-generation Noom Med platform that supports multiple medications and long-term business growth
  • You’ll work on high-impact systems at the intersection of healthcare, commerce, and technology
  • You’ll join a small, empowered team where your technical decisions directly shape the platform’s evolution
  • You’ll have meaningful ownership, combining hands-on coding with architectural influence

Compensation Package

  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$195,000.
    • This range reflects the minimum and maximum salary target for the position for US-based candidates, at the time of posting.
