Primary is looking for a PR Intern to assist with pitches and media list creation to raise the profile of the firm’s investors and founding teams.

Primary is a early stage venture capital firm dedicated to delivering exceptional support to the founders of transformational businesses in NYC. By pairing meaningful investment resources with the largest portfolio impact team of any NYC seed investor, our portfolio companies—Chief, Electric, Alloy, and Latch, to name a few—have reached an industry-best seed-to-A graduation rate.

PR Interns work directly with the VP of Marketing, formerly in leadership positions at Forbes, as well as with the team’s Events and Marketing Producer. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated college student to put the fundamentals of PR into practice and get a master class in the particularities of running comms in the venture and startup world.

The ideal candidate is a resourceful problem solver, skilled writer, dedicated reader, thoughtful organizer, and someone who pays close attention to details.

About the role:

  • Building our media lists: Reading venture and startup coverage in our core specialization areas—B2B SaaS, Healthcare, Fintech, Built World, Infra, and Supply Chain—and making useful notes of what types of stories will be the best fits.

  • Writing first drafts of media pitches, which you’ll get help on from an experienced journalist and seasoned comms leader.

  • Managing and maintaining VIP and invite lists for our several high profile events throughout the year.

  • Supporting owned brand initiatives like our Seed Reports and Focal lists.

  • $20/hr

About you:

  • Must be available to work 5-10 hours remote through the spring semester, with opportunities to work full time in NYC over the summer.

  • Verbally talented: You'll need to turn around clean copy.

  • Thoughtful: You make considered recommendations based on past experience, data, external research, and intuition.

  • Detail-oriented: You'll be working in a number of shared drives and folders that need to be meticulously maintained.

  • Self-starting: You are resourceful, passionate about ownership, comfortable with ambiguity, and willing to hustle.
