Primary Venture Partners is looking to hire a Senior Associate, Incubation Strategy to support our incubation efforts within Primary Labs. Primary is an early-stage venture capital firm with $1B AUM, investing in pre-seed and seed-stage startups based in New York City.

Primary Labs launched to support the ideation, research and launch of new

startups. Primary’s first three incubated companies will return its first fund many times

over, and Primary is now primed for substantial growth in its incubation efforts in 2024.

About this Role

We are excited to bring on a Senior Associate, Incubation Strategy to the Primary Labs team. This person will work directly with Brian Schechter, Partner at Primary who manages incubations for the firm, and Ben Sun, General Partner and Co-Founder of Primary, to elevate our ideation and research process.

This will include performing teardowns of successful businesses to apply learnings to incubations at Primary, vetting ideas with Investment Partners prior to bringing on an Operator-In-Residence (OIR), supporting OIRs in market research, ideation and diligence, and helping provide connectivity between Primary’s Investment & Impact team and Primary Labs.

What You’ll Do

You’ll partner with Ben and the Incubation team to do the following:

• Perform analysis and diligence on successful businesses and apply learnings to incubation ideas (incubation through analogy)

• Vet potential incubation ideas to understand if there is a need for a full time OIR to continue the diligence

• Support OIRs in accelerating market research, ideation and go-to-market strategies

• Organize and share insights in a thoughtful and condensed manner, ensuring scalability

• Work with Partners and OIRs on special projects Primary Labs

• Partner with Primary Labs’ Incubation Operations Lead & other support resources to make Primary Labs the best incubator in the world

About You

• You’ve spent 3+ years as a consultant (ideally focused in the tech or PE group) OR as an associate at a growth equity, private equity or venture capital firm

• You’re located in the greater NYC area and are able to be present in our office (near Madison Square Park) 3-5 days per week

• Analytical thinker: you are able to condense research into organized insights

• Self-starter: you have an entrepreneur’s intrinsic motivation, capable of independently running with tasks or ideas with substantial ambiguity

• Cross-functional thinker: you’re at your best when you’re working with stakeholders across different teams, communicating effectively and sharing relevant information proactively
