What you’ll do
The position will be practice-based, traveling between the region's practice locations to support and guide your teams with up to 1 clinical shift per week at one of the locations. This role will report to the Head of Veterinary Medicine.
Practice Management
- Responsible to ensure excellence in medical care and leading the adoption of medical protocols across the DC new market region
- Support practice performance and growth goals, and ensure both team and member NPS scores are maintained at an exceptional level
- Partner with the Head of Veterinary Medicine to implement, roll out, and ensure compliance with new or updated SOPs that adhere to best medical practice
- Collaborate with the field operations leadership on hospital operations to ensure that medical standards continue to align with member hospitality standards and and growth goals
- Spend the majority of time in the market hospitals, maintaining a clinic hours schedule, to keep a 360 view of the practice and to ensure the teams are working collaboratively and efficiently
Training
- Onboard and train new practice veterinarians, and oversee the onboarding and training of new nurses and nurse assistants
- Ensuring medical team growth in your region and promote skillset and career development among practice teams members
- Work with the practice Managing Veterinarians to identify Medical Team training needs in your region and collaborate with Medical Learning & Development Manager to create a CE schedule
- Serve as a mentor to help train and develop practice veterinarians across medical, surgical, and dental disciplines with in-person opportunities
Recruitment
- Interviewing talent pools for medical positions within your markets’ practices and supporting the growth of the teams by partnering with the Talent team to identify strong candidates for medical positions
- Partnering with our clinical recruiters on sourcing talent and hosting events for your region
- Coordination with practice leaders to organize and oversee a powerful onboarding experience for Medical Team members
Who you are
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent
- Active veterinarian licenses, or license eligibility, in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia will be required
- 5+ years of experience in general medicine, dentistry, and surgery
- Previous leadership experience as a medical director required with preference to those with multi-unit management experience
- Leadership by example: A desire to be present and hands-on in the practice environment to help lead and mentor the teams
- A collaborative personality that can also take initiative and work independently to drive results
- High emotional intelligence to encourage thoughtful and impactful leadership in the practice teams
- Enjoys creative problem solving, analyzing problems and finding solutions
- Tech skills: Knowledge of Slack, G Suite, and the ability to work across a variety of platforms
